It was founded in 1991 by Professor Martín Almagro Gorbea. The publication responds to the need to disseminate to the national and international community quality archaeological research works in all fields, with special emphasis on the Prehistory of the Iberian Peninsula. Theoretical, methodological and interdisciplinary and synthesis works of new research sections are prioritized, on the reports of deposits, museum collections or exceptional archaeological pieces It has an SJR impact factor of 0,315.
